Hey loves, I can't believe Christmas is already this week! I'll actually be traveling back home to Florida on Monday to spend the holidays with my family. I am definitely looking forward to a sunny and warm week ahead, especially with these new holiday red heels. Nothing brightens up a black/white outfit like a pop of red!

coat weather

Coat: Old Navy (old, but similar here and here) // Dress: Tahari via Rue La La // Heels: Tory Burch // Bag: Fendi // Lips: Clinique Chubby Stick 'Broadest Berry' // Nails: Essie 'Blanc'

The weather cooled down so quickly in NYC this past weekend! I gave in and wore my first coat the season and was able to break out this classic leopard coat from Old Navy I purchased a few years back. I love how it never goes out of style... and that it's leopard print. You know how I feel about leopard print

Hope you have a great week!

karma

Overalls: Dolce Vita via Rue La La // Top: Urban Outfitters // Shoes: Rebecca Minkoff via Eva Gentry Consignment // Clutch: Michael Kors // Hat: Urban Outfitters // Sunglasses: Karen Walker 'Super Duper' // Jewelry: Bauble Bar, Capwell + Co, David Yurman // Lips: Clinique Chubby Stick 'Deep Berry' // Nails: Essie 'Blanc'

I believe in shopping karma and that good things come to those who wait.

You know, like when you're out randomly consignment shopping and you stumble upon a pair of brand new, never been worn, leopard print Rebecca Minkoff 'Harlis' loafers that you've been eye-ing since the last, last year's sample sale but they ran out of your size in about five minutes because almost every woman in NYC is also a size 8? Oh  bless you, Eva Gentry Consignment and your 40% off summer sale. The retail stars were perfectly aligned that day for sure.

making waves

Dress: Zara // Necklace: Sparkling Sage via Rue La La // Nails: Essie 'Blanc'

It took more than a year, but I finally did it. Now that my hair is long enough, I was inspired (and excited) to test out the curling wand for some beachy waves! Liz of Late Afternoon had an awesome tutorial last month (here) that was really simple and easy to learn from. Peace Love Shea also has an amazing post showing how to perfect those Cali beach waves of hers using a barreled curling iron (here).

Tips to help you get this style in less than 15 minutes!
1. Hair brush: Brush out your hair so that it won't frizz when you wrap it around the curling iron. Use a clip to divide your hair into quarter sections. Start off with the bottom quarters, then work your way up using different sized pieces ranging from 1/2 inch - 2 inches. I parted my hair in the middle here, but a side part can give a more romantic vibe (as seen in this blog post).
2. Curling Wand: I purchased mine from TJ Maxx on clearance. Remember, the wand doesn't have to be a fancy brand to get the job done (similar ones here and here). It's key to curl your hair outwards, away from your face.. and be careful of burns! Wear that Michael Jackson glove proudly.
3. Finishing touches: Try a texture spray like Bumble and Bumble's Surf Spray of even some of your boyfriend's pomade to finish off your look. Use your fingers to tease out and loosen the curls for a more relaxed look and you're good to go!
4. Always use protection: Heat protection, that is. Don't forget to treat your hair with a heat protectant spray whenever curling or flat ironing, like this one or this one. It'll keep your hair looking healthy and prevent split ends.

Any other tips or products you love, I'd love to hear from you! Comments welcome below ;)

My vacation week is coming to an end and my time in Florida has flown by! I spent a few days in Orlando for one of my bestest friend's birthday (love you Lieza!) and celebrated the only way we knew how: mani/pedis, outlet shopping, an amazing 14-course dinner by Kappo at East End Market with friends and family (photos to come). Here's an outfit I wore running errands around sunny South Florida.

See you back in NYC!
